i-HTScience V.o.G. is committed to making the evidence.academy accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.
The evidence.academy is the learning platform hosted and managed by i-HTScience V.o.G., the not-for-profit scientific institute of EuroScan / international HealthTechScan (EuroScan/i-HTS).
This Accessibility Statement applies to:
including publicly accessible pages, course pages, user-account functions, learning content and related services made available under the evidence.academy domain.
Our accessibility aim
We aim to make the evidence.academy conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, as far as reasonably possible.
WCAG 2.2 provides internationally recognised guidance for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including people with visual, hearing, motor, speech, cognitive, learning and neurological disabilities.w3+1
Compliance status
Evidence Academy is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
“Partially compliant” means that some parts of the website or learning environment do not yet fully conform to all applicable accessibility requirements.
We are actively reviewing and improving the accessibility of the website, learning platform and course materials.
What we are doing
We work to make the evidence.academy easier to use with different devices, browsers and assistive technologies. Our accessibility work includes:
- Using clear page structure and heading hierarchy.
- Supporting keyboard navigation for website functions and learning-platform controls.
- Providing visible keyboard-focus indicators.
- Using sufficient colour contrast for text, controls and interactive elements.
- Designing responsive pages for mobile, tablet and desktop use.
- Using descriptive links and meaningful button labels.
- Providing text alternatives for informative images where possible.
- Avoiding colour as the only means of communicating information.
- Ensuring that form fields have clear labels and error information.
- Providing captions, transcripts or equivalent alternatives for audio-visual learning content where available.
- Reviewing third-party plugins, embedded tools and SCORM content for accessibility considerations.
- Offering an alternative way to obtain content or support where a digital feature is not accessible.
Known limitations
We are aware that some parts of the evidence.academy may not yet be fully accessible. Known or potential limitations may include:
| Area | Current limitation | Planned approach or alternative |
|---|---|---|
| SCORM learning content | Accessibility can vary between SCORM packages, authoring tools and content created by different contributors | We are reviewing course templates and will progressively apply accessibility requirements to new and updated modules |
| Third-party LMS functions | Some user-account, quiz, checkout or course-player features are provided through MasterStudy LMS, WordPress, WooCommerce or other third-party plugins | We monitor accessibility updates from suppliers and provide support or alternative access where feasible |
| Lifecycle diagrams and complex graphics | Complex diagrams may be difficult to interpret with screen readers or at high zoom levels | We will provide descriptive text, accessible summaries and, where feasible, alternative formats |
| Embedded video or webinar content | Older or third-party audiovisual material may not always include captions, transcripts or audio description | We will prioritise captions and transcripts for new content and provide alternatives on request where feasible |
| PDFs, slide decks and historic documents | Some downloadable documents may not yet be fully tagged or accessible | We are reviewing high-priority materials and can provide information in an alternative format on request |
| Colour, contrast or focus in legacy components | Some legacy theme or plugin elements may require further contrast, focus or state improvements | We are updating the design system and testing key user journeys |
| Language and readability | Some specialist health-technology terminology is necessarily technical | We are developing clearer supporting explanations, definitions and glossary links |
We do not intend to rely on accessibility overlays or automated remediation tools as a substitute for accessible design, development and content creation.
