1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of Evidence Academy, available at https://evidence.academy, including online courses, SCORM learning materials, certificates, workshops, institutional programmes, licences and related services (together, the “Services”).
By creating an account, enrolling in a course, purchasing a Service, accessing course materials, booking a workshop, entering into an institutional agreement or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not create an account, purchase, access or use the Services.
2. Provider and contracting party
Unless a specific order form, invoice, institutional agreement or course page states otherwise, the provider of the Services and your contracting party is:
i-HTScience V.o.G.

Website: https://evidence.academy
The evidence.academy is hosted and managed by i-HTScience V.o.G., the not-for-profit scientific institute of EuroScan / international HealthTechScan (EuroScan/i-HTS).
3. The evidence.academy and the EuroScan / i-HTS community
The evidence.academy provides structured education related to evidence-informed decision support across the Life Cycle of Health Technologies.
Courses, learning materials, methods and practical examples may draw on knowledge, methods and experience developed by members of EuroScan / international HealthTechScan (EuroScan/i-HTS) and contributing subject-matter experts.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, no individual EuroScan/i-HTS member organisation, contributor, author, reviewer or expert becomes a contractual party to an agreement between you and i-HTScience V.o.G. merely because their materials, expertise or name are referenced in a Service.
4. Eligibility and professional use
The Services are primarily intended for adult professionals, researchers, students, public bodies, health technology assessment bodies, healthcare organisations, innovators and other persons or organisations with a legitimate professional or educational interest in health technologies.
You confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old, or have the legal authority required to enter into a binding agreement.
- Information you provide during registration, purchase or booking is accurate, current and complete.
- You will keep your account credentials confidential.
- You will not allow another person to use your individual account unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
- You will use the Services lawfully and in accordance with these Terms.
If you create an account or purchase Services on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organisation to these Terms.
5. Services and course information
The evidence.academy may offer:
- Self-paced online courses.
- SCORM-compatible learning packages.
- Facilitated online, hybrid or in-person workshops.
- Certificates of completion and structured learning pathways.
- Institutional licences, cohort programmes and tailored training.
- Learning resources, toolkits, webinars, events and related educational materials.
The specific content, intended audience, learning objectives, format, estimated duration, level, delivery method, access period, price and other relevant conditions for a Service are stated on the relevant course page, proposal, order form, invoice, workshop description or institutional agreement.
We may improve, update or modify course content where this is necessary because of changes in evidence, methodology, regulation, policy, technology, educational design, security or service delivery. We will not make material changes that significantly reduce the core content of a paid Service during its agreed access period without a valid reason.
6. No professional, clinical or regulatory advice
The evidence.academy provides educational and informational materials. The Services do not constitute:
- Medical, clinical or patient-specific advice.
- Legal advice.
- Regulatory, reimbursement or market-access advice.
- Financial, procurement or investment advice.
- A formal HTA, regulatory decision, clinical guideline or binding recommendation.
- A substitute for independent professional judgment, local governance or applicable legal requirements.
Users and organisations remain responsible for evaluating the relevance, applicability, accuracy and limitations of course materials within their own clinical, professional, regulatory, legal, institutional and health-system context.
7. Accounts and access
Some Services require a registered the evidence.academy account.
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate registration information.
- Keeping your password and account credentials secure.
- Informing us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- Ensuring that your use of the Services complies with applicable law and your organisation’s policies.
We may suspend, restrict or terminate access to an account where reasonably necessary to protect the security, integrity or lawful operation of the platform; to investigate misuse; to comply with law; or where you materially breach these Terms.
Where possible and appropriate, we will notify you before suspending or terminating access and provide a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue.
8. Individual course purchases
Where an individual purchases access to an online course:
- Access is personal to the named learner unless the course page or purchase terms expressly permit transfer.
- You may access the purchased course for the period stated on the relevant course page or at checkout.
- If no specific access period is stated, access is granted for [insert period, e.g. 12 months from purchase].
- Course access does not grant any ownership right in course content or intellectual property.
- You may not share, resell, lease, sublicense, distribute, download except where enabled, reproduce or make course access available to others without our written permission.
A course is deemed delivered when access to the learning environment or relevant course content has been made available to the learner.
9. Institutional licences and SCORM deployment
Institutional licences, cohort programmes, SCORM packages, custom learning solutions and other organisation-level Services are supplied under a separate proposal, order form, licence agreement, statement of work or written agreement.
That agreement may specify:
- Licensed organisation and authorised users.
- Number of learners, administrators or seats.
- Licence duration and territory.
- Permitted learning-management-system environment.
- SCORM standard, technical requirements and deployment support.
- Reporting, learning-progress or certificate arrangements.
- Fees, taxes, payment schedule and purchase-order requirements.
- Intellectual-property permissions and restrictions.
- Confidentiality, data protection and security responsibilities.
- Workshop arrangements, cancellation terms and delivery format.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and a separately signed institutional agreement, the institutional agreement prevails to the extent of the conflict.
10. Workshops and events
For workshops, seminars, webinars or in-person events:
- Dates, location, format, participant requirements, duration, fees and any included materials are stated in the relevant event description, proposal or order form.
- Participants are responsible for ensuring that they meet stated technical, travel, visa, health, insurance and participation requirements.
- Unless otherwise agreed in writing, travel, accommodation and personal expenses are not included in workshop fees.
- We may substitute a facilitator, adjust the agenda, change the delivery format or reschedule a session where reasonably necessary, provided that the overall educational purpose is maintained.
- If we cancel a paid workshop and cannot offer a reasonable alternative date or format, we will refund fees paid for the cancelled workshop. We are not responsible for indirect costs, including travel or accommodation costs, unless required by mandatory law or expressly agreed in writing.
- Workshop cancellation and rescheduling by the customer are governed by the terms stated in the applicable proposal, order form or workshop agreement. If no specific terms are stated, please contact us at [insert support email] as soon as possible.
11. Certificates and learning pathways
The evidence.academy may issue certificates of completion, badges or other records of participation where the stated requirements have been met.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
- A certificate confirms participation, completion or achievement of defined learning requirements.
- A certificate does not constitute an academic degree, professional licence, regulatory authorisation, accreditation, clinical qualification or legally recognised professional credential.
- Certificates may be issued electronically and may include the learner’s name, course title, completion date, learning level and a verification reference.
- You must not alter, falsify, reproduce or misrepresent a certificate or completion record.
- We may correct, revoke or invalidate a certificate where it was issued in error, obtained through fraud, misconduct or a material breach of these Terms.
12. Prices, taxes and payment
Prices for Services are displayed on the relevant course page, proposal, quotation, order form or invoice.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
- Prices are shown in [insert currency, for example EUR].
- Prices are [inclusive / exclusive] of VAT and any other applicable taxes.
Choose one statement and remove the other before publication. - Where VAT or another tax applies, it will be displayed or calculated before the order is submitted, where required by law.
- Payment must be made using the payment methods made available at checkout or stated on the relevant invoice.
- For invoiced institutional Services, payment is due within [insert payment term, for example 30 days] of the invoice date, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- We may suspend access to paid Services where payment is overdue, after giving appropriate notice where legally required.
If a pricing error is obvious and could reasonably have been recognised as an error, we are not obliged to provide the Service at the incorrect price. We will contact you before processing the order where correction is necessary.
13. Formation of the contract
For online purchases, the steps before placing an order are displayed during checkout.
Before submitting an order, you should be able to review and correct relevant order details, including the selected Service, price, billing information and any applicable access or withdrawal terms.
A contract is formed when we confirm acceptance of your order by email, make the Service available, issue an invoice or otherwise expressly accept your order.
For institutional Services, a contract is formed when an authorised representative of i-HTScience V.o.G. accepts a proposal, purchase order, order form or agreement in writing, unless another arrangement is expressly stated.
14. Consumer right of withdrawal
This section applies only where you are a consumer, meaning a natural person acting for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession.
If you purchase a Service online or otherwise at a distance, you generally have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
For services, the withdrawal period generally begins on the day the contract is concluded.
For digital content not supplied on a tangible medium — such as immediate access to an online course or downloadable learning materials — the right of withdrawal may be lost once supply begins, but only where all applicable legal conditions have been met.
In particular, before providing immediate access to paid digital content during the 14-day withdrawal period, we will ask you to:
- Give prior express consent to immediate supply; and
- Acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once supply begins.
We will provide confirmation of your order and, where applicable, your consent and acknowledgement in a durable medium, such as email.
If we do not obtain the required express consent and acknowledgement, your statutory withdrawal rights remain unaffected.
EU consumer rules provide a 14-day withdrawal period for distance contracts. For paid digital content supplied immediately, withdrawal rights can be lost only after the consumer has expressly consented to performance beginning, acknowledged that this causes loss of the right, and received contract confirmation.europa+2
15. Model withdrawal form
You may use the following form to notify us of your withdrawal. Use of this form is optional; you may also submit another clear statement of withdrawal.

16. Refunds
Refunds, where due under mandatory law or agreed in writing, will be made using the same payment method used for the original transaction unless otherwise agreed.
For consumers who validly withdraw from a contract, we will process the refund in accordance with applicable law.
For business customers, refunds for digital Services, SCORM packages, institutional licences, workshops and customised work are governed by the relevant order form, proposal, licence agreement or other written agreement.
Except where mandatory law provides otherwise, payments for Services already delivered, used, downloaded, accessed, assigned, customised or performed are non-refundable.
17. Intellectual property and permitted use
All intellectual-property rights in the evidence.academy and its materials — including courses, text, videos, graphics, diagrams, presentations, SCORM packages, templates, methods, assessments, designs, software, trademarks and logos — are owned by i-HTScience V.o.G., its licensors, EuroScan/i-HTS contributors or other relevant rights holders.
Subject to payment of applicable fees and compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable right to access and use the relevant Service for your own internal learning or professional-development purposes during the applicable access period.
You must not, unless expressly authorised in writing:
- Copy, reproduce, modify, translate, adapt, publish, distribute, sell, rent, lease, sublicense or commercially exploit materials.
- Share your individual account or login credentials.
- Circumvent technical measures, access controls, watermarking or licence restrictions.
- Download, record, scrape, capture, transmit or create derivative works from course content, except where a feature expressly permits this.
- Remove copyright notices, branding, attribution, metadata or licence information.
- Use course materials to train, develop or improve an artificial-intelligence model, machine-learning model, large language model or similar system.
- Use the Services in a way that infringes third-party rights or harms the integrity, security or reputation of the evidence.academy, i-HTScience or EuroScan/i-HTS.
Certain materials may be made available under an open licence, such as Creative Commons. Where this applies, the specific licence notice attached to the material governs its use.
18. User content and feedback
If you submit comments, assignments, questions, discussion contributions, feedback, survey responses or other content through the evidence.academy (“User Content”), you remain responsible for that content.
You confirm that your User Content:
- Is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- Does not infringe intellectual-property, confidentiality, privacy or other rights.
- Does not contain unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, abusive, offensive, malicious or harmful material.
- Does not contain personal data about another person unless you are authorised to share it.
- Does not include confidential information that you are not permitted to disclose.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use User Content only to the extent necessary to operate, deliver, moderate, improve and administer the Services.
If you provide feedback or suggestions, we may use them without compensation or further obligation, provided that we do not identify you publicly without permission.
19. Acceptable use
You must not use the evidence.academy to:
- Break applicable laws or regulations.
- Gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems, networks or data.
- Upload malware, viruses, harmful code or security-disrupting content.
- Interfere with platform availability, performance or security.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, role or affiliation.
- Use automated means to extract, scrape, copy or monitor platform content without written authorisation.
- Share copyrighted material without permission.
- Harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse other users, faculty, contributors or staff.
- Use the platform for unauthorised commercial purposes.
- Use a certificate, course status or affiliation with the evidence.academy in a misleading manner.
We may investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including restricting access, removing content, suspending accounts or referring matters to relevant authorities where appropriate.
20. Availability and changes to the Services
We aim to maintain a reliable and secure learning environment. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or permanently available access to the website or Services.
Maintenance, updates, security measures, third-party service outages, internet connectivity, changes in technology or circumstances outside our reasonable control may affect availability.
Where reasonably possible, we will provide notice of planned maintenance or material disruptions. We may modify, suspend or discontinue a Service where reasonably necessary for technical, legal, security, quality, operational or educational reasons.
This does not affect your mandatory consumer rights or commitments expressly made in a separate agreement.
21. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, intentional misconduct, gross negligence where applicable law does not permit exclusion, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory consumer rights.
Subject to the preceding paragraph, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The evidence.academy and its materials are provided for educational purposes and do not guarantee a particular professional, clinical, regulatory, financial, organisational or learning outcome.
- We are not liable for decisions made by users or organisations based on educational content without independent professional assessment.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, data, reputation or anticipated savings.
- Our total aggregate liability arising from or related to a paid Service is limited to the amount paid by you for the specific Service giving rise to the claim during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability.
- For free Services, our total liability is limited to EUR 100, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
For business customers, no claim may be brought more than 12 months after the event giving rise to the claim, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
22. Indemnity for business users
If you use the Services on behalf of an organisation or in a professional capacity, you agree, to the extent permitted by law, to indemnify and hold harmless i-HTScience V.o.G. from claims, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses arising from:
- Your unlawful use of the Services.
- Your breach of these Terms.
- Your infringement of third-party rights.
- Your User Content.
- Your misuse, unauthorised distribution or misrepresentation of course materials or certificates.
This section does not apply where prohibited by mandatory consumer-protection law.
23. Privacy and cookies
Our processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
Our use of cookies and similar technologies is described in the Cookie Policy.
By using the evidence.academy, you acknowledge that we process personal data in accordance with those policies. Where consent is required, for example for non-essential cookies or marketing communications, we will request it separately.
24. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the evidence.academy at any time.
You may request deletion of your account in accordance with the Privacy Policy, subject to legal-retention obligations and the need to retain records of course completion, certificates, payments, contractual rights or disputes.
We may suspend or terminate your access where:
- You materially breach these Terms.
- You fail to pay fees due after appropriate notice.
- Your use poses a security, legal, operational or reputational risk.
- We are required to do so by law, court order or regulator.
- Your licence or access period has ended.
- An institutional agreement under which you received access has expired or been terminated.
Termination does not affect rights and obligations accrued before termination, including payment obligations and intellectual-property restrictions.
25. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them are governed by Belgian law.
If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, you may also benefit from mandatory provisions of the law of that country that cannot be derogated from by agreement.
Unless mandatory law provides otherwise, the courts having jurisdiction over the registered office of i-HTScience V.o.G. shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or related to these Terms.
26. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms where necessary because of changes in law, our Services, technology, business operations, security requirements or educational practice.
The current version will be published on the evidence.academy with the “Last updated” date.
For material changes that affect existing paid access, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users before the changes take effect, where appropriate. Continued use of the Services after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
27. Severability and no waiver
If any provision of these Terms is found unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.
A failure or delay by i-HTScience V.o.G. to enforce a provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other right.
